Boo N’ Brew Festival to Close Square

Friday Event Brings Residents Downtown; Detours for Motorists

MOUNT VERNON, Oct. 26, 2021 – The Boo N’ Brew Music and Craft Beer Festival will give Mount Vernon residents a chance to celebrate the Halloween season by coming downtown this Friday evening, Oct. 29, for a host of activities. But motorists should be aware that the event will require them to detour around the Public Square and a portion of South Main and East Vine streets throughout the day.

Beginning at midnight Thursday night, detours will direct motorists away from the Square, as well as a small section of South Main Street from the Square south to Vine Street, through midnight Friday night. East Vine Street between South Main and Mulberry streets will also be closed. The Boo N’ Brew Festival will take place from 4 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday, rain or shine.

North of the Square, detours will be placed with an emphasis on keeping traffic moving along East Chestnut Street, since eastbound motorists on Coshocton Avenue will be detoured from turning south on North Park Street at East Chestnut. Motorists north of downtown headed south will be detoured at Five Points to Mulberry Street.

The detours set up on Friday will be very similar to those in use for the First Fridays earlier this year, as well as the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival over the summer.

The Boo N’ Brew Festival will feature craft beers from more than 35 brewers across the state, as well as food trucks and four musical acts, headlined by John Michael Montgomery. Proceeds from the event will go toward education, from MTVarts educational outreach to the Rotary Club International of Mount Vernon’s annual educational scholarships.

The festival is a closed, ticketed event, and all attendees must be at least 21 years of age. For tickets and more information, visit www.BooNBrewfestival.com.

Motorists are advised to be extra careful throughout the weekend, as Trick-or-Treat will take place in Mount Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
