(MOUNT VERNON) The Knox County Grand Jury handed down sixteen indictments in its second session of October 2021.
William G. Carter, 66, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for failure to comply with the signal or order of a police officer, a felony of the third degree, and aggravated vehicular assault, a felony of the fourth degree. Carter allegedly did not comply with a MVPD officer’s order not to leave an investigation scene and sped away. The officer was knocked to the ground, breaking an elbow among other injuries. The case was investigated by MVPD Ptl. Nick Holdren and OSHP Sgt. Coby Holloway.
Jocelyn M. Estevez, 23, of Pickerington, and co-defendant, James L. Reed, 25, of Columbus, were both indicted for possession of a fentanyl-related compound, both felonies of the fifth degree. Trooper Colten Riley was dispatched due to a vehicle the drove off the roadway. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Estevez and Reed were allegedly found in possession of fentanyl.
Jesse C. Nyhart, 28, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, both felonies of the second degree. On two different occasions, it is alleged that Nyhart sold a bulk quantity of methamphetamine in the vicinity of a school. This case was investigated by Det. Terry Wolfe.
Robert A. Hubbard, Jr., 35, of Centerburg, was indicted with a charge of receiving stolen property, a felony of the fourth degree. It is alleged that Hubbard was in possession of a stolen Chevrolet Silverado from Delaware County when he was arrested on an open warrant. The case was investigated by MVPD Ptl. James Coffey.
Serena A. Cambell, 19, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for assault, a felony of the fifth degree. Cambell allegedly assaulted a Mount Vernon Municipal Probation Officer during a scheduled meeting.
Andrew E. Johnson, 31, of Ashland, was indicted on a charge of passing bad checks, a felony of the fifth degree. It is alleged that Johnson wrote a check for a rent payment while having insufficient funds. This case was investigated by KCSO Sgt. David DeVolld.
Jeffrey A. Thompson, 58, of Newark, was indicted for theft, a felony of the fifth degree. Thompson allegedly placed an order for approximately $2,000 of supplies on a business’ account where he was not employed.
John R. Sisson, 30, of Caledonia, was indicted for burglary, a felony of the second degree, and theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. It is alleged that Sisson entered a Mount Vernon residence without permission and stole various items from the residence. This case was investigated by Ptl. Paige Sims.
Vince A. Thompson, 55, of Howard, was indicted on charges of driving while intoxicated, a first-degree misdemeanor; improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, a felony of the fifth degree; and failure to maintain reasonable control, a minor misdemeanor. Thompson was allegedly driving and failed to maintain reasonable control and stuck a fence, garage, and parked vehicle. It is alleged that Thompson was intoxicated while driving and in possession of a loaded firearm at the time.
Amanda D. Wirick, 34, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. KCSO Dep. Luke Guthrie responded to a disturbance call at a Mount Vernon residence, and during a probable cause search, Wirick was found in possession of alleged methamphetamine.
Jennifer E. Beck, 38, of Newark, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. During a traffic stop with a K9 search, Beck was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine.
Mary B. Hunter, 28, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the third degree. Due to an alleged traffic violation, MVPD initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle where Hunter was a passenger. During the traffic stop, Hunter was allegedly discovered to be in possession of approximately 9.8 grams of methamphetamine. This case was investigated by Ptl. Aaron Collins.
Elija J. Jones, 41, of Mount Vernon, was indicted with a charge of possession of a fentanyl-related compound, a felony of the fifth degree, and illegal use or possession of drugs paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. During a traffic stop with a K9 search of the vehicle, Jones was allegedly in possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. This case was investigated by KCSO Dep. Luke Guthrie.
Whitny L. Bilger, 32, of Danville, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree; possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor; and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree. Bilger was allegedly stopped for a moving violation and was allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine and drugs abuse instruments at the time.
Jerry L. Horton, 42, of Utica, was indicted for possession of cocaine, a felony of the fifth degree. Horton was allegedly discovered to be in possession of cocaine during a KCSO traffic stop with a K9 search.
