Reporting to the Director of Athletics Communications, the Athletics Communications Part-Time Assistant is responsible for promoting the College’s twenty-two athletics programs through written, verbal and electronic communications. Primary duties include game coverage, which entails providing an online audience with live in-game statistics and live video streams. Following games, the Part-Time Assistant will be responsible for posting statistics and relaying them to appropriate outlets. Writing game recaps, as well as providing social media updates are a part of postgame duties.

Other duties may be added with the inclusion of new technologies and expectations within the field.

This is a part-time, 10-month position without benefits. Compensation is $1,000 per month.

The Athletics Communications Part-Time Assistant will be expected to work approximately 20-25 hours per week. Work will be assigned between the hours of 3 p.m. and 11 p.m. on random weekdays. Nearly every Saturday, and occasionally Sunday, work will be assigned, according to the home schedules of our athletics teams. On very rare occasions, the Part-Time Assistant may be asked to travel to cover Kenyon’s teams.

Required skills

  • Strong writer with editorial capabilities.
  • Knowledge of video streaming software and relevant digital streaming equipment.
  • Experienced with Google Workspace and Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Photoshop.
  • Fluency in social media platforms, particularly Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
  • Thorough understanding of NCAA scorekeeping and statistical guidelines for a variety of sports.
  • Experience with Stat Crew and NCAA Live Stats software.
  • Ability to supervise a small staff of student workers.

Additional Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in a related field is not required, but preferred.
