ODNR Fall Color Update – No. 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Changing conditions are now being seen through Ohio as the colors of the season are now coming to life, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
“Vibrant and deep reds are definitely beginning to show in the maples while yellows abound in a number of other tree species,” said ODNR Fall Color Forester David Parrott. “This last week we have really started to see a transformation of fall color throughout the state with almost all areas now seeing some of the colors of the season – which means near peak conditions are right around the corner.”
Don’t forget that burning outdoor debris is now prohibited from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. during October and November. Burning is limited in the fall due to the abundance of dry grass, weeds, and leaves on the ground. Gusty winds and low humidity can make a seemingly safe fire burn more intensely and escape control. If a fire does escape control, please contact the local fire department immediately. An escaped wildfire, even one burning in grass or weeds, is very dangerous.
