Governor DeWine Statement on Death of U.S. Senator Levin of Michigan

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine issued the following statement on the death of U.S. Senator Carl Levin of Michigan:

“Fran and I are very saddened to hear of the death of my former colleague, U.S. Senator Carl Levin of Michigan. Senator Levin fought tirelessly to protect our Great Lakes.  I was honored to serve as a co-chair with him on the Great Lakes Task Force, where we worked together on measures to restore and protect Lake Erie and the other Great Lakes.  I also fondly remember our good-natured bets, including fudge from Michigan and Fran’s buckeyes, when OSU and Michigan played against each other.  Senator Levin loved Michigan and was deeply devoted to the people of his state and our nation.  Fran and I extend our condolences to Carl’s wife, Barbara, and their children and grandchildren.”
