Fredericktown Annual Hydrant Flushing Begins Monday

In compliance with Ohio EPA recommendations, the Village of Fredericktown will begin its annual hydrant flushing program on Monday, July 26th. Flushing hydrants on an annual basis cleans sediment out of water mains and allows us to test hydrants for proper functionality. This flushing may cause temporary discoloring of drinking water so we recommend that water customers consider allowing their water to run for a few minutes before consumption, just to remove air and sediment from the water lines. The water supply will remain safe to consume, but the flushing process may stir up sediment and can result in some iron temporarily showing up in drinking water.
We hope to have this flushing completed within the month of August but we greatly appreciate the patience of our water customers in the meantime.
