Check for Rabbit Nests in Your Yard

Did you know that Eastern Cottontail Rabbits can have up to 7 litters each year? They might use fur, leaves, grass or nothing but a small area to create their nest. Please check your yard before you mow or let your dog’s out to make sure, a mother rabbit hasn’t used your yard to raise her family. If you have a rabbit’s nest in your yard and you are worried that your dog will harm them, cover the nest and babies up during the day with a laundry basket or milk crate and remove the covering at night. Mom usually visits the nest 2-3 times from dusk to dawn to feed her infants. ohiowildlifecenter.org
