Kokosing Gap Trail 30th Anniversary

In recognition of the KGT’s 30th Anniversary this year, a sculpture was installed at the Mount Vernon terminus of the trail on Tuesday. Volunteers completing the installation were Don Horn, Dave Parr, and KGT board president, Randy Cronk.
The installation was made possible by donations to the KGT and a grant from the Ariel Foundation. Featured in the heart are nearly 50 bicycle wheels donated by local cyclists. Custom Cutters of Mount Vernon fabricated and painted the sculpture.
The sculpture is dedicated to all those who have appreciated, enjoyed, and used the trail, and to all the volunteers who have cared for the trail since it opened three decades ago.
The 30th Anniversary celebration of the KGT will continue October 10 when the KGT partners with the Heart of Ohio Trail for the Celebration of Trails in Knox County event. This celebratory event will be held at Ariel-Foundation Park from noon – 3 p.m. So, mark your calendars and plan to attend this event!
