I searched for an answer but instead for today’s Wildlife Wednesday from your Ohio Division of Wildlife I only found the Question Mark.
Hibernators such as the question mark, comma, and mourning cloak are some of the longest lived butterflies in Ohio. They can often be seen on sunny, warm, winter days or early spring days. The fall adults hibernate over winter in hollow logs, and in earthen crevices. The males are attracted to mud puddles, tree sap, rotten fruit, animal scat, and carrion. Wingspan for the question mark is 2.25″ to 3″. Their host plants include the Hackberry, American elm, red elm, stinging nettle, and false nettle.
