The OHIO OFFICE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT RECRUITMENT was established by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and is housed within the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services (OCJS), a division of the Ohio Department of Public Safety.

This office was created to aid local law enforcement agencies in the recruitment and retention of new officers. The Ohio Office of Law Enforcement Recruitment’s new website offers a brief history of a law enforcement, the basic requirements for becoming a police officer in Ohio, the behavior and traits of an effective officer, as well as the selection process that allows agencies to both screen in and screen out the qualities and attributes required for the law enforcement officer position.
