Acknowledgment and Appreciation to Officers

Knox County Court of Common Pleas Judge Richard Wetzel, with Chief Probation Officer Lisa Lyons, would like to congratulate a couple of our officers by presenting a Certificate of Acknowledgment and Appreciation for their efforts to save the life of a felony probationer who had suffered a near fatal overdose of fentanyl.

On June 16, 2021 the two court officers made a wellness check at the probationer’s residence in Centerburg, and they discovered this person had overdosed and was unresponsive. The court officers immediately called 911 to dispatch emergency medical personnel. 911 Dispatch contacted Central Ohio Joint Fire District, who responded to the scene within about 2 minutes of the officers’ call to 911. Thanks to the quick response of 911 and the Central Ohio Joint Fire District EMT personnel, this person was revived and survived the overdose. The person now is being assessed for a residential drug treatment program.

The Court of Common Pleas is very grateful to our officers and to the 911 Dispatch and Central Ohio Joint Fire District EMT’s for their fine professionalism and their service to our community.
