Grange Road Residential Fire

E419 and T417 were dispatched at 10:54 am Wednesday to the 18000 block of Grange Road on the report of a single family residential structure fire. Fredericktown EMS also responded on the initial dispatch.
Due to the dispatch information and location, mutual-aid companies were requested from Mount Vernon Fire Department, Johnsville Fire Department, and Jefferson Township Fire Department.
Upon arrival to scene, crews found a two-story residence with a walk-out basement. Smoke throughout the home and fire damage sustained to mainly the kitchen area. Firefighters stretched an 1 ¾” attack line into the first floor of the home and minimal water was used to hit any hot spots that were remaining.
Mutual-aid companies were cancelled and the call was handled by the initial responding units.
Overhaul was completed to search for fire extension. A fan was setup to remove smoke from the home.
Homeowners were there at the time of the fire. Occupants of the home utilized three small ABC fire extinguishers, a water hose, and were able to keep the fire from spreading beyond the area of origin. Fast thinking and work of those with the extinguishers kept this from being a catastrophic loss.

No civilian or firefighter injuries were sustained. Firefighters were on scene roughly 35 minutes.
