The Knox County Grand Jury issues indictments in twelve cases this week, increasing the year-to-date number of indictments to 58. Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville noted that more cases are coming to Grand Jury as the COVID pandemic begins to ease. “It seems like COVID-19 was keeping the numbers low through the winter, but there has been an uptick in cases,” he said.
Jerad L. Shaw, 39, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for aggravated robbery, a felony of the first degree. It is alleged that Shaw went into CES Credit Union on West Chestnut Street and showed a teller a weapon on March 17, and asked for the money in the till. Shaw reportedly left the credit union with about $3,000 in cash. He was apprehended nearby a short time later. He is being held on $50,000 bond at the Knox County Jail. Gunor M. Doretich, 23, of Danville, was indicted for failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a felony of the third degree. Mount Vernon Police Ptl. Matthew McDonald attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Doretich on March 21, which resulted in a pursuit that allegedly reached speeds of 110 mph.
William T. Dilger, 37, of Sunbury, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. During a January traffic stop with a K9 search, Dilger allegedly was in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine. This case was investigated by MVPD Ptl. Aaron Collins.
Kara M. Keen, 43, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for 7 counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, 2 counts of trafficking in Heroin, and 1 count aggravated possession of drugs. A combination of third, fourth, and fifth degree felonies. During the execution of a search warrant on a Facebook account, it is alleged that multiple drug transactions were discovered. On a separate occasion, Keen allegedly was in possession of methamphetamine when officers executed a search warrant of her residence. This case was investigated by MVPD Det. Jessica Butler and KCSO Det. Terry Wolfe.
Chondell T. Holloway, 30, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for 7 counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs, all felonies of the fourth degree, and 3 counts of aggravated possession of drugs, all felonies of the fifth degree. While on a traffic stop with a K9 search, Holloway was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. This led to the search of a cell phone where additional alleged drug transactions were discovered. This case was investigated by MVPD Det. Jessica Butler.
Larry J. Butler Jr., 32, of Columbus, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, and possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor. On February 26, MVPD Ptl. Sarah Wheeler was dispatched on a suspicious vehicle call. It is alleged Butler was in possession of methamphetamine and drug abuse instruments at the time.
James D. Stone, 34, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. On March 8, MVPD was dispatched out due to an alleged altercation. It is alleged that Stone was in possession of methamphetamine at the time of his arrest. The case was investigated by Ptl. Sarah Wheeler.
Keith Carder, 32, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for domestic violence, a felony of the fourth degree. It is alleged that Carder caused physical harm to a former domestic partner on March 14. This case was investigated by MVPD Lt. Rex Young.
Brooklyn R. Miller, 22, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for aggravated possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree, and possessing drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor. In October of 2020, Miller was stopped due to a warrant and allegedly had a small amount of methamphetamine at the time of the arrest. This case was investigated by MVPD Ptl. Jason Payne.
Shawn A. Culler, 46, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for harassment with bodily substance, a felony of the fifth degree, resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor, and aggravated menacing, a first-degree misdemeanor. MVPD Ptl. Tyler Berger was responding to a welfare check, when Culler allegedly became aggressive towards Berger, spat in his face and made threats of physical harm.
Christopher C. Nelson, 27, address unknown, was indicted for vandalism, a felony of the fifth degree, and grand theft of a motor vehicle, a felony of the fourth degree. It is alleged Nelson stole a 2005 Ford Ranger, and kicked in a window at the Grab & Dash convenience store on Harcourt Road. This case was investigated by KSCO Det. Aaron Phillips.
Kevin J. Kidd, 45, of Mount Vernon, was indicted for vandalism, a felony of the fifth degree. It is alleged that Kidd destroyed a phone kiosk phone in the Knox County Jail valued at $1,800. This case was investigated by Dep. Kyle Chism.
