“Shop With a Cop” Helps 10 Families in Knox County

On December 17, 2020, the Knox County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 147 held its annual Christmas with a Cop event, which has often been referred to as “Shop with a Cop.” This year we were able to assist 19 children from 10 different families of Knox County. This would not have been possible without the generosity of Walmart, the Mount Vernon Association of Police Chaplains, and the citizens of this community. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dan Citro, manager of Walmart, who assisted with securing a grant fund for the event, and Phil Lohmeyer of the Mount Vernon Association of Police Chaplains, who assisted with funding for one of the families selected for the event. Participants for the event included: the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, Fredericktown Police Department, Danville Police Department, Mount Vernon Municipal Court Probation Department, Knox County Parole/Probation Authority, Mount Vernon Association of Police Chaplains, Salvation Army of Mount Vernon, and Walmart Associates, Tammy Breeze and Amber Hart.
