Readout Of Ranking Member Brown’s Meeting With Wally Adeyemo Nominee For Deputy Treasury Secretary By President-Elect Biden

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) – ranking member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs released the following readout after he met with Wally Adeyemo Nominee for Deputy Treasury Secretary by President-elect Biden, if confirmed Adeyemo would be the first African American Deputy Secretary of Treasury:

“I spoke with Mr. Adeyemo about a wide range of issues. Mr. Adeyemo and I agree that Treasury will be essential to addressing this public health and economic crisis, and I stressed that we must have an equitable recovery that helps workers and the small businesses that make up the real economy. Mr. Adeyemo’s years of public service and international expertise make him an ideal fit for the Deputy Treasury Secretary position. I fully support his nomination and urge my colleagues to do the same. I look forward to working with him and the rest of the Biden economic team.”
