High Speed Chase Ends in Arrest

On November 10th, 2020 at 2:37 PM, an Officer of the Mount Vernon Police Department observed a vehicle being driven by Ronald Hoeflich Jr. (age 40) in the area of Walmart. The Officer had recent knowledge that Mr. Hoeflich did not have a valid Driver’s License, and also had an active warrant for his arrest through the Mount Vernon Municipal Court.
The Officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle at this time. Mr. Hoeflich failed to stop and began fleeing eastbound on Coshocton Avenue at high speed. The Officer began pursuing the vehicle eastbound on US-36, and called for assistance from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Hoeflich continue fleeing eastbound on US 36 at a high rate of speed and continued through the village of Howard.
In the area of State Route 715 and US 36, a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy was able to successfully deploy spike strips on the fleeing vehicle. Officers were then able to get the vehicle stopped at US 36 and Austin Road. Mr. Hoeflich was arrested and taken into custody without further incident.
Ronald Hoeflich Jr. was transported to the Knox County Jail and is being held on the active warrant as well as a Parole Violation. Further charges as a result of the pursuit are pending.
