Troopers Seize Weapons and $18,600 Worth of Marijuana and Prescription Pills in Richland County

COLUMBUS – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against an Oklahoma man after a traffic stop in Richland County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 6 pounds of marijuana and 100 prescription pills worth approximately $18,600.

On October 30, at 4:24 p.m., troopers stopped a rented 2020 Chevrolet Malibu with Florida registration for marked lanes and unsafe lane change violations on Interstate 71. While interacting with the driver, he admitted there was marijuana in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed 6 pounds of marijuana, prescription pills, a loaded 20 gauge shotgun, and a loaded .45 auto handgun.

The driver, Alayas J. Johnson, 21, Tulsa, was incarcerated in the Richland County Jail and charged with both a third-degree felony and a fifth-degree felony for possession of drugs, as well as carrying a concealed weapon, a fourth-degree felony.

If convicted, he could face up to five and a half years in prison and up to a $17,500 fine.
