Great American Smokeout

The Great American Smokeout is an annual intervention event on the third Thursday of November by the American Cancer Society. About 32.4 million American adults still smoke cigarettes, and smoking remains the single largest preventable cause of death and illness in the world. Smoking causes an estimated 480,000 deaths every year, or about 1 in 5 deaths. And more than 16 million Americans live with a smoking-related disease.

If you have a strong desire to quit tobacco or vaping devices, the health department’s Knox Out Tobacco program can help. While there is no ‘magic bullet’ to break the addiction to nicotine, we have helped thousands of adult smokers and chewers to quit for good with our evidence-based program. To learn more visit knoxhealth.com/index.php/public-health-issues2/tobacco-cessation
