New Projects Expected to Create More Than $743 Million in Investments

(COLUMBUS, Ohio)—Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted today announced the approval of assistance for seven projects set to create 1,110 new jobs and retain 686 jobs statewide. During its monthly meeting, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Collectively, the projects are expected to result in more than $47 million in new payroll and spur more than $743 million in investments across Ohio.

Projects approved by the TCA include:

CENTRAL
Ashley Furniture Industries Inc. (Ashley Furniture), Etna Township (Licking Co.), expects to create 300 full-time positions, generating $13.8 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in Etna Township. Ashley Furniture designs, manufactures, and distributes home furnishings via a retail, e-commerce, and wholesale market. The TCA approved a 1.401 percent, eight-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Clarus R&D Solutions LLC (Clarus R&D), City of Columbus (Franklin Co.), expects to create 25 full-time positions, generating $1.6 million in new annual payroll and retaining $1.4 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Columbus. Clarus R&D creates tax credit software for small to midsize businesses and certified public accountants. The TCA approved a 1.335 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Freepoint Commodities LLC, Village of Obetz (Franklin Co.), expects to create 60 full-time positions, generating $3.6 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in Obetz. Freepoint Commodities buys and sells physical commodities and finances upper-and mid-stream commodity-producing assets. The TCA approved a 1.437 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Tri-Tech Laboratories LLC (KDC/ONE), City of Groveport (Franklin Co.), expects to create 200 full-time positions, generating $7 million in new annual payroll and retaining $33.2 million in existing payroll as a result of the company’s expansion project in Groveport.  KDC/ONE formulates and supplies specialty and personal care products. The TCA approved a 1.297 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

NORTHEAST
OMEC Smart Card LLC (OMEC), City of Strongsville (Cuyahoga Co.), expects to create 200 full-time positions, generating $6.6 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in Strongsville. OMEC manufactures various smart card products for municipal, governmental, industrial, and enterprise customers. The TCA approved a 1.397 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

SOUTHWEST
AddUp Inc, City of Blue Ash (Hamilton Co.), expects to create 25 full-time positions, generating $2.3 million in new annual payroll and retaining $540,000 in existing payroll as a result of the company’s new project in Blue Ash. AddUp is a 3D metal printing machine manufacturer. The TCA approved a 1.553 percent, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.

Nestle Purina Petcare Company (Purina), Williamsburg Township (Clermont Co.), expects to create 300 full-time positions, generating $12.5 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new project in Williamsburg Township. Purina produces and markets pet food, treats, and cat litter. The TCA approved a 1.714 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit for this project.
