Perch Diet Has Changed

Research shows yellow perch have changed their diet, affecting how they respond to traditional baits and lures. The change in diet has affected where they’re found and made them more difficult to catch.

Ohio Division of Wildlife recommends people fishing for perch to go out on the lake early or late in the day when the perch rise to feed on water fleas.

Anglers should use smaller lures like an ice fishing jig or Sabiki rig with soft plastic or worm pieces. #fishohio
