BBB Warning: Don’t Get Hooked by This Business!

Victims from 49 states and 3 Canadian provinces have reported being victimized by an online company, Fishing Care Package, based in Stuart, FL offering fishing rods, reels, lures and other fishing supplies for sale. The complaints were regarding non delivery of ordered products, incorrect or substituted items and denial of refunds. 1,506 victims filed complaints or scam reports with BBB since 2017. Of these complaints, 1,263 went unanswered by the business. This amounts to 84% of complaints being unanswered.

Fishing Care Package has 907 complaints related to delivery issues. A sampling of amounts lost range between $50 and $150. The business location is a small bay warehouse located in Stuart, FL.

A customer in Kentucky reported, “Never received product nor refund. Cannot reach the company. On 04/05/2020, we ordered a fishing reel, Abu Garcia Revo X Baitcatster, and it was BOGO, with a total of $47.79. The order number was xxx. I received an email confirmation and they took my money. To date, I still have not received the reels, nor a refund. I have reached out to the support email listed on the order confirmation but have never received a response.”

The company’s website, www.fishingcarepackage.com, states: “We are a “Mystery” based company, with a Fishing Care Package you can choose a package of your choice without the beforehand knowledge of what you will receive. You will get a random selection of fishing tackle items related to the species or type of fishing you chose.”

The company has not responded to BBB’s inquiries or for an explanation of their business practices. We have published this information on the BBB profile: As of February 26, 2020, case # L19-3-1297, The Office of Attorney General, State of Florida, Dept. of Legal Affairs: Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody and her office entered into an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (hereafter referred to as the “AVC”) against Fishing Packages, Inc. d/b/a Fishing Care Package and its owner, Bailey Scott Damberg, for deceptive and unfair trade practices regarding the online advertising, promoting, marketing, and selling of various goods, including, but not limited to, fishing lures. Link to the attorney general’s case.
