Brown Statement on Selection of Cleveland as Location of First Presidential Debate

Debate to be Hosted by Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic

CLEVELAND, OH – Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown released a statement following the news that the first 2020 presidential debate will take place in Cleveland, and will be hosted by Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic.

“The City of Cleveland is known for its history of free speech and debate, and Ohio’s Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic are known for their groundbreaking work, research and outcomes in the medical field. At such an important time in our country, there is no better choice for the first debate,” said Brown. “Ohio continues to be a crucial bellwether in presidential elections, and I’m glad that Cleveland and our top-tier university and medical institutions will be showcased to the rest of our nation and the world.”
