Troopers Seize Firearm and $3,000 Worth of Ecstasy Pills and Marijuana in Wood County

COLUMBUS – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against a Michigan man after a traffic stop in Wood County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized a firearm, 189 ecstasy pills and a gram of marijuana worth approximately $3,000.

On June 4, at 3:49 p.m., troopers stopped a 2018 Kia Soul with Maryland registration for a following too close violation on Interstate 280. The passenger was found to have an active felony warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident. A search of his person revealed the contraband. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the firearm and additional contraband.

The passenger, Dwight Taylor, 26, Ypsilanti, Mich., was incarcerated in the Wood County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in ecstasy pills, both second-degree felonies and possession of a weapon under disability, a third-degree felony.

If convicted, he could face up to 19 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
