We wanted a room full of people.
We wanted to sit around tables and enjoy a meal together while introductions were made and reunions occurred. We wanted to shake hands with new community members we didn’t know before. We wanted to enjoy the comfort of being together with others partnering in this mission alongside us.
Filming the Annual Fundraising Banquet presentation to be streamed on a computer wasn’t our original intention. As a non-profit organization, this event brings in about half of our annual budget every year. HALF.
It’s scary, not getting the comfort of the familiar. . . The certainty that comes in fulfilling an annual tradition that has occurred for decades now. But last night, as we filmed this moving program, I was reminded of something big.
With the fancy meals, full tables, and the pre-planned seating chart all stripped away, we will see all the more clearly God’s goodness to this ministry.
When God provides for us financially, the credit cannot go to an event, or to a room full of people, but it will go straight to the One who saw this coming all along.
In this stripping away of all that is familiar, we will see God’s faithfulness in a way we never have before. I truly believe that.
