Former Corrections Officers Sentenced to Jail

(CLEVELAND) — Two former Cuyahoga County corrections officers, Idris-Farid Clark and Robert Marsh, were sentenced today for their roles in the restraint and assault of an inmate.

Clark was sentenced to 18 months for each felony and 60 days for a misdemeanor charge, to be served concurrently. Marsh will spend 30 days in jail.

On Jan. 24, Clark pleaded guilty to attempted felonious assault (F3), extortion (F3) and unlawful restraint (M3).

Marsh pleaded guilty to assault on Nov. 18, 2019, and agreed to resign from his job at the jail.

Marsh and Clark strapped an inmate in a restraint chair and then Marsh struck the inmate in the face. Clark grabbed the inmate’s hair and administered a 6-second blast of pepper foam to the inmate’s face at point-blank range.

Following his initial indictment, Clark was charged with extortion for claiming he would release incriminating videos of a co-worker unless that co-worker agreed to testify in support of Clark’s defense.

The Special Prosecutions Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s Office prosecuted the cases. The FBI assisted Yost’s office with the investigation.
