Poetry Potluck at Brown Family Environmental Center

A Poetry Potluck featuring guest poet, Ira Sukrungruang, will be held on Sunday, February 23, 4:00-6:00 p.m., at the Brown Family Environmental Center, 9781 Laymon Road, Gambier. Poetry Potluck is a monthly community-driven collaboration between the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, the Brown Family Environmental Center (BFEC) and The Kenyon Review.

Each Poetry Potluck features a Free Write, readings by guest poet and a generative workshop with writing prompt. During the open workshop,

attendees can share 1-3 short poems, no more than three pages, and get feedback from peers.

The main dish for the potluck will be provided by the PLMVKC, dessert will be provided by the BFEC, and a book of poetry will be donated by the Kenyon Review for a door prize. Participating poets are asked to bring food to share.

Sukrungruang is the author of three nonfiction books “Buddha’s Dog & other Meditations,” “Southside Buddhist and Talk Thai: The Adventures of Buddhist Boy,” the short story collection “The Melting Season” and the poetry collection “In Thailand It Is Night.” He is the recipient of the 2015 American Book Award, New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Nonfiction Literature, an Arts and Letters Fellowship and the Emerging Writer Fellowship.
