ODNR to Invest $118K in Lake Hope State Park Water System

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has received approval from the State Controlling Board to invest $118,800 for upgrades to the water and wastewater systems at Lake Hope State Park in Vinton County.

“Infrastructure improvements are crucial for maintaining essential services at our state parks,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “Our focus is on providing high quality experiences for our guests.”

The wastewater treatment plant serves the dining lodge, Laurel Lodge, beach house, and 67 cabins at Lake Hope. Located at the base of the hill below the lodge, shifting slopes have caused cracking concrete, separation of pipes, and difficulty opening access panels at the plant. This project will improve the drainage and stabilize the slopes above the plant so it can continue operations. The project is expected to be completed in June 2020.

Located in southeastern Ohio, the 2,983-acre Lake Hope State Park lies within Zaleski State Forest. The Lake Hope Lodge offers made-from-scratch food using Ohio products with a strong emphasis on real pit barbecue. The dining lodge is open to the public year-round and is available for holidays and special events.
