Festival Gets New Name; Logo Reveal Planned

Mount Vernon, Ohio – The board of directors of Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival, Inc. is pleased to announce the renaming of the four-day August event to the Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival.

“The vote to rename the festival came as a result of community and board interest in re-energizing the event,” said board president Joe Rinehart.  “These conversations started informally around three years ago, but grew in the last 8 months when we launched a community survey to ask for input.  That survey led to further conversations about finding a name that reflects the simple where and what of the festival.”

The board also voted to name Joseph Bell as Festival Director.  Bell will continue to lead efforts with the board and community volunteers in planning and executing the four-day event.  Trinia Trainor, board secretary, will also serve as Assistant Festival Director.

The Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival will host a community open house to reveal its new logo and announce this year’s headline entertainment on Wednesday, February 12, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mount Vernon Grand Hotel Ballroom, 12 Public Square.  There will be a brief reveal presentation and comments from Bell at 6:00 p.m.

The open house will include appetizers, promotional items and a chance to win door prizes.  There will also be opportunities to discuss sponsorships and become a Friend of the Festival.

The 2020 Mount Vernon Music and Arts Festival is August 13-16 around the Public Square and the streets of downtown Mount Vernon.
