Attracting Wildlife in Winter: Fatty Foods – Suet & Nuts

Winter is a great time of year to watch wildlife! With reduced food and water sources, some wildlife will readily come to your backyard if the right foods are provided. When feeding wildlife in the winter, try to use high fat and protein rich foods such as suet cakes, peanuts, and sunflower seeds. To attract a larger number of species of birds, try feeding millet and thistle seeds too. Squirrels and other small critters will benefit from corn cobs and peanuts.

Just like in the summer, remember to keep your feeders clean and free of molding seed or debris.
