On 12/24/19 deputies were dispatched to a residence on Weber Rd. near Howard on a welfare check. During the investigation, it was determined that a 13-year-old female had been assaulted by her father. When a deputy and Danville Police officer went to the suspect’s residence in Brinkhaven, he refused to answer the door, or respond to phone calls. Additional Danville officers and deputies responded, along with negotiators and tactical response officers from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect eventually responded to officers using a loudspeaker and surrendered without incident.
Jose Hernandez age 45, is currently in the Knox County Jail on charges of domestic violence and assault. The case remains under investigation.
