Phillip D. Lehmkuhl, a senior member of the Knox County Bar, passed away yesterday. Phil set a high standard for advocacy in Knox County courtrooms, where his colorful turns of phrase and witty delivery always held the attention of jurors regardless of whether his case was solid or weak. Phil also was without peer for writing the best letters on behalf of his clients – well-thought-out, frequently funny, and almost never more than one page.
No one would accuse Phil of being a sharp dresser, but Knox County has lost one of its sharpest legal minds. This office sends our sympathy to his friends and family. We will miss him.
