Pages on Stages

The art of writing will be featured at “Pages on Stages,” a public reception celebrating the work of local writers from the Knox Writes, Teen Writing Workshop and National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) on Sunday, December 1, 1:30-3:30 p.m., at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County, 201 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon.

At the “Best of NaNoWriMo Hub” competition, participants from the PLMVKC NaNoWriMo program will read the first 500 words of their novels before a panel of celebrity judges. The judges will award one writer the Grand Prize: a $50 gift certificate to Paragraphs Bookstore, a complimentary one-year subscription to The Kenyon Review, and a first chapter manuscript consultation.

“Pages on Stages” will feature entertainment from the Knox Choraliers under the direction of Laura Ackert and Sarah Reyes. Following a performance by the Knox Choraliers at 2:30 p.m., there will be more readings of new work from the Teen Writing Program and Knox Writes–the library’s fiction writing workshop for adults.

The event is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Library and is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
