COLUMBUS – Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers filed felony drug charges against two Ohio men after a traffic stop in Summit County. During the traffic stop, troopers seized 288 grams of methamphetamine worth approximately $10,000.
On November 7, at 2:58 p.m., troopers stopped a 2005 Chevy Impala with Ohio registration for a defective exhaust violation on South Arlington Street in the city of Akron. While approaching the vehicle, troopers observed criminal indicators and the driver admitted to having a meth pipe in the vehicle. A probable cause search of the suspects and the vehicle revealed the contraband.
The driver, Jaelin Whitman, 22, New Philadelphia, and passenger, Gregory Swiney, 25, Dover, were incarcerated in the Summit County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine and trafficking in drugs, both first-degree felonies.
If convicted, each could face up to 22 years in prison and up to a $40,000 fine.
