Weekend Activity: Take a Wildlife Hike!

This time of year is the perfect time to get outdoors and view Ohio’s wildlife and natural resources. Take a hike in your local park, wildlife area, or just down your street and enjoy the changing colors of fall. For most wildlife fall means prepping for winter. Squirrels and other wildlife are gathering and storing food for the winter, and many species are readying themselves for hibernation. Fall also means migration for many species. You may see flocks of geese or other birds flying south to their overwintering grounds. While many wildlife species leave for the winter, cooler temperatures also bring new species to Ohio, such as the Dark-Eyed Junco, which is a sure sign winter is on its way.
