Breast Cancer Event Raises Over $4000 for Local Patients

Teresa and Jason Harter, owners of the 1834 MidWay Tavern are pleased to announce that a recent Guest Bartending Event raised over $4,300 for patients who receive treatment for Breast Health Services at Knox Community Hospital.

“We reached out to the Foundation for KCH because we wanted to do a community fundraiser. October was Breast Cancer Awareness month.  If we can play a part in helping someone dealing with breast cancer, we want to do that. The fact that the money stays local is key,” said Teresa Harter, owner of the tavern.

“We’re seeing more businesses step up to help raise awareness and funds for local patients, and that is a wonderful thing.  Many patients are too ill during treatment to continue to work. This impacts their finances and insurance. These local funds are a real blessing and help provide costly materials such as prosthetic bras and lymphedema sleeves which are important to the healing process,” said Diana Endsley, RN, Director of the Center for Cancer Care at KCH.
