Plan a Murder Mystery Weekend at Our Ohio Inn

Are You a True Detective?

Murder mystery weekends at The White Oak Inn are a little bit of magic, a little bit of music, and a whole lot of fun! Our Ohio murder mystery weekends and dinners are set up for guests to dress in costume and play along. Don’t worry – there are no lines to read or scripts to follow. Just bring along your sense of humor and be prepared to be entertained.

Our season runs from November to April and we offer 5 scheduled murder mystery dates to the public. They can be booked by individuals or small groups. The list of dates and plots is shown below. If you have a group of 14 to 21 friends who would like a private mystery party, we can create a one- or two-night package for you. See below for more details or call us for more information.

Mysteries usually begin at 6 p.m. and end about 10 p.m. About a month before the date, we will send you information about the mystery and which character you will be playing so that you will have time to plan and to create your costume and props for the evening. Our Ohio murder mystery dinners are fun and memorable, coupled with delicious homemade food prepared in-house using the freshest ingredients.

Our mysteries contain adult content and are not suitable for guests under the age of 18. We can provide family-suitable themes for private parties.

The Plots

Hit At the Hop
The year is 1955. Truman is out and Eisenhower is in. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are born, and men are heading off to war. A night out is desperately needed! We are going to listen to Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, put on our saddle shoes and hop the night away. You have been invited to an event at the White Oak Inn, which could very well become the “hit” of the year. Marilyn Monroe, Doris Day, and Lucille Ball have nothing on us! So pull out your white T’s and leather jackets, your poodle skirts and saddle shoes, and head to the White Oak Inn!

Murder at the Masquerade
Anticipation is building in the world of the rich and famous as everyone waits for their invitation to The White Oak Inn’s first annual Masquerade Party. All the movers and shakers will be there – investors, athletes, musicians and Hollywood glitterati. You never know who might be hiding behind that mask, but it’s going to be in your best interests to figure out whether they are innocent or guilty.  During this fun evening of music, mayhem, and murder you’ll get to rub shoulders with such famous personalities as Mac McEnroe (brother of John) and Jeff Jefferson, the great, great, great-grandson of Thomas and George Jefferson.

Knights of the Octagon Table
It is 930 AD and the kingdom is restless. King Creole just died and all of the Knights of the Octagon Table have been notified, via chainmail, that they must now assemble and choose a new King. Their votes are being tainted by bribes from the Ladies in Waiting, Maidens of the Court, and the Queen, herself. Once the treasured artifacts are in place, Excalibur and the Wholly Grail, the Knights are set to cast their ballots…

The Unemployed Superhero Union Meeting
Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound…..to whom might we be referring? Certainly not this group. Once a fierce, fervent, crime-fighting force, the superheroes of yesterday aren’t quite as sharp as they used to be. They have been out of work for the past few years and are looking to make a comeback. But first, they need to get organized. Who will lead this compilation of caretakers back to their respected position in the crime-fighting community? Who will be there to ruin their plans? And who will die trying? Run, fly, or travel coach in a Value Jet, but do whatever it takes to get to this monumental meeting of muscle.

The Freda Love and Skip Moore Wedding
It’s 1967, and flower-children Freda and Skip are about to consummate their impending nuptials. What could possibly go wrong on a beautiful day like this? Well, we don’t call it a murder mystery for anything. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something in a body bag. Join the wedding party for an evening of peace, love, laughs, and loaded weapons.

Appalachian Family Reunion
All the kinfolk are getting together for the annual Gristle family reunion. Gristles from all over the three counties of swampland they call home have reunited at “Yvonne & Ian’s halfway house and tattoo emporium” where Cousin Floyd is employed. (He got us a really great deal on the facilities!) The Gristles are known for being a wild bunch and tonight will probably be no exception.

The Hiney Awards
We’re rolling out Red’s carpet for the most celebrated evening of the year, the presentation of this year’s Hiney Awards. The Motion Picture Association has shunned them, and the Actors Guild is embarrassed by them, but tonight they will receive their just desserts. Actors, directors, writers, and gaffers from the year’s most forgettable movies will all be on hand to vie for the most coveted award of them all, The Hiney. Find out what movies are to die for at this year’s awards.

Murder at The Speakeasy
It’s 1927. The biggest party of the year is going to be held at the private club known as White Oak and all the movers and shakers will be there.  Everyone from city officials to gangsters. People will mingle, make connections, trade favors, and someone may even try on a pair of cement shoes for size.

The Lounge Singers’ Convention
These singers are so bad that the hotel that held their last convention had to be closed down by the health department. It was overrun with wild cats looking for mates whenever the group performed. We may be praying for more than just Elvis to leave the building. How many times can you stand to listen to Feelings in one night?

Class of 1969 Reunion
The kids are all grown up now and are heading back to Barry Manilow Memorial High School for their class reunion. Hope you were paying attention in math class, so you can count the survivors. This class has some secrets that make for an evening of whodunnit fun. Think of it as Carrie meets Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
