Fall Wildfire Season is Upon Us

Fall wildfire season is upon us in Ohio. Exceptionally dry conditions in August and September have created an elevated potential for wildfires this fall. From August 1-October 28, 2019, ODNR Division of Forestry received reports of 81 wildfire responses from cooperating fire departments. Total acres burned in the reports is around 100 acres, which indicates quick and efficient responses – but with our dry conditions this fall, a brush fire ignited on a warm, windy day could easily escape and get large quickly. The best solution is PREVENTION: Remember there is a 6 AM–6 PM burn ban in October and November. For ODNR and Ohio EPA burning regulations go to: forestry.ohiodnr.gov/burninglaws
