Nature Preserves: Discover One Near You

Fall is just around the corner which means cooling temperatures and the beautiful fall foliage. Ohio trees display a splendid array of yellows, oranges, and reds during the fall months, making it a very popular time to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

One great way to view fall colors is to visit one of Ohio’s nature preserves. Ohio offers 136 state nature preserves where you can explore the fall color while learning about rare and endangered species, geological features, and more. These diverse areas of land contain remnants of Ohio’s pre-settlement past, rare and endangered species, and wondrous geologic features.

Most state nature preserves contain small parking lots and a trail system. Some contain no user access facilities. Be sure to plan ahead and dress accordingly to enjoy the natural beauty Ohio’s state nature preserves offer!
