The Salvation Army Offers a Variety of Services to Knox County

Our Social Service department offers emergency assistance for housing such as rental help in an eviction notice, assistance with electric with notice of disconnection, and assistance with gas for heating during the winter months. To receive this assistance the client should call in on the last Tuesday of the month to schedule an appointment with the social worker. This assistance is available to the client once in a 12-month period.

We also have a food pantry that we offer M-W-F, 9 am-12 pm, and 1 pm – 3 pm. Clients may visit the pantry once each calendar month, please bring photo ID and proof of residency. During the fall and winter months, we have a crockpot class that is taught (all food is prepped and made from what clients receive from food pantries. This is an 8-week class (must attend once per week); at the end of the class, participants will receive a free crockpot.

On Thursday evenings the Salvation Army also hosts the community hot meal from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.
