Under the mentorship of their English teacher, Melissa Berton, she and five other students formed the Pad Project non-profit in order to combat this issue. The team then launched a Kickstarter campaign that funded a low-cost, sanitary pad machine in Hapur, India as well as the Academy Award-winning documentary, Period. End of Sentence.

This summer, Ruby created an educational toolkit in order to assist schools around the world start their own Pad Project initiative. Ruby’s other hobbies include practicing and teaching yoga, writing poetry, and playing with her puppy, Zelda.
