Ohio Raptors: Hawks

Hawks are part of the raptor family, which also includes falcons, eagles, and owls. Ohio has 8 species of hawks. The 6 “true” hawks are separated into two groups – Buteos and Accipiters. The northern harrier and osprey are the remaining two hawks and fall into their own categories.
