“Stories of a Unique County Lady Doctor—Tough but Tender, Crude but Caring, Learned and Generous,” June 24

The Danville Public Library will host “Stories of a Unique County Lady Doctor—Tough but Tender, Crude but Caring, Learned and Generous,”  a look at the life of the late Pauline Freeman, MD, will be held on Monday, June 24, 6:00 p.m., at the St. Luke Community Center, 7 West Rambo Street, Danville.

Dr. Freeman practiced in Danville for nearly 40 years over a half-century ago. Many residents and former medical professionals have their own stories of her brusque, but highly skilled, care—with some colorful language thrown in for good measure.

Discussion leader, local historian and retired teacher David Greer, a board member of the Knox County Historical Society and the Friends of the Library, will share information on a recent program on personal effects of the doctor in the possession of KCHS over the past winter.  Greer encourages the public to share stories and anecdotes. The program is free and open to the public.
