Nelson Apprehended, Pleads Guilty, Sentenced to 4 Years

James Nelson II, who has appeared on #WANTED WEDNESDAY multiple times since 2016, appeared in Knox County Common Pleas Court for the first time yesterday, where he was arraigned, pleaded guilty and was sentenced.

Nelson turned up in the custody of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections serving a drug sentence from Licking County. He has been wanted in Knox County since March of 2016 after leading a Highway Patrol Trooper on a high speed chase on a gravel road. The pursuit ended with Nelson crashing his Cadillac into a tree, severely injuring his passenger. He was not arrested at the time due to his own injuries.

He pleaded guilty yesterday to Aggravated Vehicular Assault and Fleeing and Eluding, both third degree felonies. He was sentenced to 24 months on each count, to run consecutively for a 4 year total sentence.

Nelson is also facing aggravated murder charges in Ross County, Ohio for the murder of a 62 year old man in July, 2016. In August, 2016 he was arrested and sentenced to prison in New Mexico after leading police on another high speed chase.
