Nature Camp

Registration is now OPEN for our Nature Camp in July. Join the Knox County Park District and explore animal tracks, look for and listen to birds, study plants and soil, learn to compost and recycle and try your hand with the Enviroscape™ watershed model at Nature Camp to be held at Thayer Ridge Park. The Park District invites children ages 8-12 to attend camp on Thursday, July 17 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Parents may drop their child off and return for pickup at 12:30 p.m. Pack a lunch and upon pickup we invite you to eat at the park with your child/grandchild.

The camp is designed to engage children in outdoor fun to create pathways for lessons in nature, conservation, and ecology. The camp will include six hands-on stations allowing the children a 30-minute activity on various nature-related topics. Research shows that children who play outside are more physically active, more creative in their play, less aggressive and exhibit better concentration.
