Birding Basics: Where to Find Birds

Do you know the feathery acquaintances that stop by your backyard or fly overhead during walks outdoors? If you’ve ever been curious about the birds you encounter every day, or if you’ve ever considered taking up birding as a new hobby, there’s no better time to learn than in the spring!

There’s nothing quite like spring migration, with warmer weather inviting beautiful tanagers, warblers, grosbeaks, buntings, and more into the Buckeye State. But where do you start in learning how to bird? We suggest your own yard or nearby park. Take a pair of binoculars and a field guide with you to get a closer look and learn more about the species you see.

When you’re ready to venture farther afield to meet new and different birds, you may need to do a little more research, but we can help get you started!
