Spring Migration: Hummingbirds

Hummingbirds are making their way back to Ohio!

Many hummingbirds spend the winter in Central America or Mexico. They migrate north to their breeding grounds in the southern United States as early as February, and to areas further north later in the spring. They fly by day when nectar sources are more abundant, so it might be time to fill up those hummingbird feeders soon.

To make your own hummingbird food, simply mix 1 part sugar with 4 parts water and bring to a boil for a few minutes. Let the mixture cool and fill the feeder. Do not use any red dye.
