ODOT Ready for Weekend Storm in East Central Ohio

JACKSONTOWN (Friday, January 18, 2019) – ODOT crews in East Central Ohio are gearing up for another round of winter weather this weekend. The forecast shows several inches of accumulating snow north of I-70 and rain/wintry mix south of I-70. Throw in some high winds and freezing temperatures and for Central Ohio, that means ODOT crews are ready for anything.

In preparation for the weekend, ODOT crews are fine-tuning equipment and loading trucks this afternoon, and the first round of snowplow operators will begin patrolling as early as 12 a.m. Saturday in some counties.

A total of 110 snow plow operators will be treating and plowing interstates, state, and US routes, ramps and bridges in all seven of our counties. Those counties include Coshocton, Fairfield, Guernsey, Knox, Licking, Muskingum, and Perry.

Crews are prepared to work 12-hour shifts all weekend until the storm has passed and roads are safe and passable for the traveling public.

As always, ODOT reminds drivers to slow down, plan for additional travel time and maintain a safe following distance behind other vehicles. Remember, don’t crowd the plow – give us room to work.
