Weekend Activity: Recycle Your Christmas Tree for Wildlife!

Weekend Activity: Recycle Your Christmas Tree for Wildlife!

Live-cut Christmas trees don’t have to go out with the trash; instead, they can take on a second life after the holidays when used as habitat for wildlife. Many communities have special tree recycling collections after the holidays or have a municipal compost facility where you can bring it. Or, you can re-purpose your tree in your own backyard.

Ways to recycle your Christmas tree:

1. Create a brush pile with your tree as the base
2. Compost your tree in the garden
3. Decorate your tree for wildlife with edible ornaments
4. Donate your tree to a local restoration project
