Bald Eagle Populations Strong in Ohio

Intensity. Bald eagle populations are strong in Ohio thanks to conservation efforts and habitat secured with funds from hunting and fishing license sales.

Contrary to popular belief, the ODNR Division of Wildlife receives no taxpayer dollars to conserve, restore, and manage Ohio’s wildlife and its habitat. The majority of these efforts are supported by people who purchase hunting and fishing licenses and permits. Those who don’t hunt and fish can also buy licenses, permits, or waterfowl stamps to help support wildlife, but there are other ways too! Conservation license plates, income tax check-off donations to the Endangered Species and Wildlife Diversity Fund, and sales of the Ohio Wildlife Legacy Stamp also help wild animals like the bald eagle.
