Patrol to Host Motorcycle Safety Event

COLUMBUS – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is partnering with the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio Traffic Safety Office, the Ohio Department of Transportation and Motorcycle Ohio to promote motorcycle safety on August 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Pickaway Country rest area located on U.S. 23 near South Bloomfield.

On hand will be representatives from all five agencies to include Motorcycle Ohio driving instructors and their mechanic, Frank Pierce. Instructors and law enforcement officers will be available to provide driving and riding safety tips to all who stop. Pierce, a certified mechanic, will be available to discuss mechanical issues at no cost to the riders.

The annual Motorcycle Rodeo held in Chillicothe from August 29 to September 3 is expected to draw hundreds of riders into Ohio. Many of these riders are expected to travel U.S. 23 to reach their destination. This event will provide a location for riders and drivers to stop, rest and learn more about motorcycle safety.
